The new service will unable the public to text details of potential offenders getting behind the wheel while over the limit.
The 07860 009095 text number is being highlighted as part of this year's campaign cut down Christmas drink-drivers.
Inspector of the Roads Policing Unit, Jason Keates, said: "This Christmas we're calling on the community to help us in our fight against drink driving.
"If you suspect someone has been drinking and getting behind the wheel – then please text us.Tell us where the car is, its number plate and, if possible, it's direction of travel and we will do the rest."
The number will be promoted in the county's pubs and clubs.
Last year 65 people were arrested on suspicion of drink driving in the county during the month-long campaign and in the first four days this year nine people have been arrested.
Mr Keates added: "We're out tackling this issue every day of the year but at Christmas we do see an increase in the number of drink drivers.
"It's not just about arresting people but about keeping the roads safe and by texting this number or calling 999 - you could be saving someone's life."
