Network Rail is giving residents in Stroud a chance to talk and engage about its plans to build a new footbridge in Stroud in 2013 over the railway line.
The company is holding a drop in event today until 7pm, at the Paganhill Maypole Hall in Stratford Road, Stroud.
The aim is to discuss plans for a new railway footbridge which will replace the two existing footpaths over the railway at Beards Lane and Downfield Road.
Robin Basu, Network Rail's community relations manager for Wales & West, said: "These footpaths are heavily used by local school children on a daily basis and by installing the footbridge the route over the railway will become much safer."
"We will build a new footbridge to replace the two footpath crossings as part of the wider £45m project to redouble the railway line between Swindon and Kemble."
This scheme will provide for the future capacity requirements on this line of route (four train paths an hour) and act as a robust diversionary route to South Wales when Bristol Parkway/Severn Tunnel is not available.
Representatives from Network Rail's project, community relations and operations teams will be present to answer any questions that you have.
Anyone with any questions should call Network Rail's 24-hour Helpline on 08457 114141.
