SCREENING is planned to give Cashes Green residents back the privacy they have lost during development of the old hospital site.
A green structure with ivy and flowering climbers will be provided along the boundary between Haboakus' site and householders in Berkeley Close, the company said.
The promise comes after Valerie Brookes complained about the development of 20 affordable homes to rent at Applewood, overlooking her house in Berkeley Close.
There will also be 19 affordable homes for shared ownership and 39 homes for sale on the open market.
Mrs Brookes said Haboakus, in which Channel 4 TV's Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud is involved, had "ripped out a 12ft hedge".
"It looks a right mess," she said. "They are supposed to be replacing the hedge."
Haboakus project manager Kirsty Powell said the firm had tried to find a way of keeping the hedge but it proved impossible.
"Local residents were advised of the need to remove it in advance of the work taking place," she said.
