Pregnant Zara Phillips has quit competitive riding. The Queen's granddaughter – married to Gloucester Rugby's Mike Tindall – is just over three months pregnant and expecting her first child in the new year. A spokesman for Princess Anne's daughter – who took part in a cross country event in Sussex on Sunday – said there was nothing medically wrong and the pregnancy is proceeding 'happily and healthily'. The spokesman added: 'The fact is that all of Zara's horses have now qualified for the events she wishes to enter them for next year. 'She has done so well already this season, she does not actually need to compete any more. "Given that she is pregnant, she has decided to cancel the rest of her entries for the year. 'As we said previously, she is feeling fine and is following all medical advice from her doctors. "She is just being sensible about this. 'If there is no reason for her to ride, then she won't. 'And now her horses have all qualified, there is no real point in her taking part, particularly given the fact that she is pregnant.' The 32-year-old royal, who lives at Gatcombe with Gloucester Rugby player-coach Tindall, took a tumble from her horse during the Barbury International Horse Trials near Swindon earlier this month. Last summer, she was part of the silver-medal winning British eventing team The NHS advises pregnant women not to continue with 'inherently risky' sports, but it is believed her mother, Princess Anne, rode until she was 34 weeks pregnant.
