MORE than 60 cyclists pedalled up to 70 miles along scenic Cotswold routes to support the Stroud Valleys Project.

The third annual cycle ride organised by the environmental charity was in partnership with the Museum in the Park in Stroud and Transition Stroud.

Cyclists of all ages set off from Stratford Park on Sunday morning to follow routes varying between 10 and 70 miles.

"We had lots of families taking part, including one tandem," said Julie Wickham from Stroud-based SVP.

"It was quite a cold day so we were very pleased with the turnout."

Cyclists returned to the Stroud park to enjoy cycling-related events organised by Transition Stroud and Gloucestershire Bike Project.

These included free bike checks and music supplied by environmental activist James Beecher.

The event celebrated SVP's 25th birthday.

"It went well and people really enjoyed the routes the ride took them on, " said Julie.

The Cycle Ride was just one of series of events organised by SVP to celebrate its silver anniversary this year. This weekend sees a great-crested newt survey in Kingswood.
