FOUR care homes have been brought out of administration.

The future is more secure for residents at the Cheltenham homes after their new umbrella company took them out of administration.

New owners of the four former Camelot Healthcare homes announced the news a year after administrators were called in.

The homes are Broadleas, Dalkeith and The Hawthorns, all in Lansdown, and Pinehurst in Charlton Kings.

The goods news will affect around 80 patients across the four homes. Bosses' promises that none of the residents would be evicted were kept.

There were also concerns that 60 jobs could be at risk, but these have also been save.

All four homes now come under the registration and operation of the United Care group.

Operations director Amanda Rushbury said: "Coming out of administration has helped lift a black cloud from over our heads. From the staff and residents' point of view, it is a very positive thing.

"The reason that Camelot Healthcare went into administration was because a care home in the north was performing poorly.

"It's like a pack of cards – if one falls then the rest of them underneath will tumble.

"We had a staff meeting and they are really pleased. It has been a difficult time for the teams in all four homes and I think this is a new beginning for us."

One of the residents' family members, who asked not to be named, said: "This is a relief. We were worried about whether or not it would come to having to move our relative, and that sort of upheaval could have been really distressing for them."

Brian Owen, director and owner of United Care, said he was delighted to announce the news.

He said: "Since taking responsibility for the management of the Camelot Healthcare homes in June 2012, significant inroads have been made to upgrade the homes and create a boutique style care home."
