AFTER driving a million miles through the streets of London a classic 1967 Routemaster bus is embarking on a new career – bringing beer to the people.
Horsley couple Nick and Helen Honeychurch are the force behind the bar-in-a-bus venture.
They snapped up the bus – the model made famous by Sir Cliff Richard in his musical film Summer Holiday – on eBay and are now trading as the Big Red Bus Bar.
Their beer bus sells Cotswold Lager, Stroud Brewery bitter as well as Cotswold Vodka and Gin.
Helen and Nick will be taking their bus to events at Gloucester Quays as well as festivals and weddings and are available for hire.
"The Big Red Bus Bar combines our passions for old vehicles, drinking good beer and going to festivals," said Helen. "We are bringing beer to the people."
The Routemaster spent 47 years in service for London Transport before its reincarnation.
Although now kitted out with a bar and leather sofas, it remains fully operational with a top speed of 43mph and fuel economy of 13mpg.
"People love Routemasters, they are so iconic," said Nick.
