FILLING up a car in one Cheltenham petrol station is now a more pleasant experience – with music and video to accompany the chore.
The Texaco garage in Lansdown Road is playing Dancing in the Street.
Emma Gardener, from the garage, said they had started playing music during Cheltenham Festivals.
The 34 year old said: "We started off playing an adapted version of Downtown, which said Cheltenham instead, in support of race week, which was a bit of fun and it carried on from there."
Emma explained how they had video screens fitted into the pumps 18 months ago, for advertising purposes but now they used them to play videos alongside the music.
She said: "The response was so good we decided to continue and we now play one song a week.
"Some people say it is annoying but we think it puts most of our customers in a good mood and 90 per cent of them really like it."
"We had Kylie Minogue playing last week and now it is Mick Jagger. We change it each week."
Lauren Wilden, 21, who works in Cheltenham and regularly fills up at Texaco, said: "I love music and any chance to hear it in the day makes it better for me."
Customer Toni Pitchfork, 22, added: "I think it is a really good idea to cheer up people in the community."
