HUNDREDS marched through the streets of Cheltenham this morning to object to proposed changes to NHS services.
Members of health campaign group 38 Degrees, Cheltenham and Gloucester Against Cuts, union members and political parties all gathered at the protest.
Around 250 people were campaigning against plans to downgrade Cheltenham General Hospital's A&E department to a minor injuries unit during the night.
If the plans go ahead it would see just the walking wounded treated in Cheltenham while more serious casualties would have to be transferred to the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
The NHS has vowed it would be reconfiguring staff across the county to ensure the Gloucester hospital would have enough doctors and nurses to cope with the changes.
Others were objecting to government cuts and the privatisation of the NHS.
The protesters marched through Sandford Park, London Road, down the High Street to Boot's Corner, onto the Promenade and to Montpellier Gardens.
