Will Paulson was left frustrated on making his debut for Great Britain at the World Cross Country Championships in Poland, writes Kevin Fahey.
The 18-year-old Stroud & District AC runner, who is a student at Pate's Grammar School in Cheltenham, had travelled to Poland with high hopes of at least leading home the British junior men's squad but ultimately he didn't even make the scoring team.
In bitingly cold conditions with snow lining the multi-lap course in the small town of Bydgoszcz Paulson finished 72nd and fifth of the six Britons.
The squad of Jonathan Davies (35th), Michael Callegari (37th), Michael Ward (51st) and Gordon Benson (58th) placed ninth team. The sixth British runner was Lewis Lloyd in 77th.
