Five members of staff at the Gloucester branch of Unison who were sentenced for conspiracy to steal have been ordered to pay back their gains.
During the financial confiscation hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday March 21, under the Proceeds of Crime Act, Matthew Oakey, Michelle Oakey, Karen Marlow, Kathleen Boyle and Patrick Boyle who were convicted of Conspiracy to Steal from Another were ruled to have benefited from their crimes to the amount of £90,894.76.
• Kathleen Boyle who was ruled to have benefitted to the amount of £43,265.49 has been forced to pay the available amount of £8,600
• Michelle Oakey who was ruled to have benefitted to the amount of £15,986.46 has been forced to pay the available amount of £235.00
• Karen Marlow who was ruled to have benefitted to the amount of £15,548.46 has been forced to pay the available amount of £15,548.46
• Matthew Oakey who was ruled to have benefitted to the amount of £7,094.66 has been forced to pay the available amount of £235.00
• Patrick Boyle who was ruled to have benefitted to the amount of £9,000.00 has been forced to pay the available amount of £7,690.00
Each will have six months to pay the available amount which will be paid as compensation to Unison.
Detective Inspector Ian Ginn who was leading the original investigation said "This latest hearing shows the determination of Gloucestershire Constabulary to prosecute and recover funds from criminals.
"It should send a clear message to offenders that the Constabulary will make whatever effort is needed to bring those who defraud innocent parties to justice"
