To celebrate the City and Folk museums being in the national final for the Museums at Night competition both venues will be transformed - for one night only.
Visitors to the Folk Museum on Friday 17th May will get the opportunity to be remembered in history by taking part in a large-scale social experiment.
Every visitor will have the chance to be involved and help create a glimpse into our social history for generations to come.
There will also be plenty of hands-on artefacts and tools placed around the museum for visitors to guess their purpose.
The event at the City Museum, Brunswick Road, on Saturday 18th May, will see the museum step back in time to its former use as a Victorian College of Science.
Visitors will be able to take part in a whole host of wacky and wonderful hands-on experiments and get involved with brewing a range of potions all around the building.
The museum's Café Nerva will also have a one night only menu with a range of interesting science themed delights added to commemorate the occasion.
Councilor Paul James, Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Gloucester City Council said: "Whichever museum you are visiting, this will be an opportunity for a vastly different experience not to be missed.
"With the events running on consecutive days there is no reason why people should not go to both.
"Being in a museum or gallery at night can be an exciting and unusual experience and there really will be something for everyone."
