DANCERS outside Gloucester Guildhall were swinging to the beat of jive today (Saturday) in an attempt to raise as much cash as possible for Help for Heroes.
The Absolute Beginners jive and swing dance group were showing off their moves in-front of city centre shoppers.
Classes take place at Quedgeley Community Centre in School Lane every Thursday at 7pm, with instructors and fellow dancers happy to pass on tips for beginners or those looking to improve their moves.
Dance teacher from the Gloucester Jive and Swing Group, Sara Boon, 46, hosts classes with her husband Gary, 49.
She says jive is a great way to keep fit and socialise.
"We have a mix of beginners and intermediates who turn up for classes and they love it, they get so much out of it," she said.
"I have been dancing for 17 years and it is quite easy to pick up. Some of our members served in the armed forces so we are all aware of what a great cause the charity is."
Nigel Leppard, 47, has been dancing for just over two years but says it is easy to learn.
"I have had three strokes and dancing really helps me to keep fit and healthy," he said.
"If you had told me ten years ago I would be going out on a Saturday night and drinking water rather than lager, and dancing I would never have believed it.
"But it's a great way to socialise and if I can remember the moves, then anybody can."
