The A417 through Maisemore has now been closed for 10 days due to flooding.
It was shut by Gloucestershire Highways on Christmas Eve for the second time in two months.
It remains closed today with no indication of when it may reopen.
Jenny Goodson, area highways manager said "The A417 at Maisemore was closed on Christmas Eve due to flooding.
"We will reopen the road when the river levels have dropped.
"We are monitoring the situation morning and evening, and river levels are currently falling.
"As soon as it is safe to do so, we will reopen the road even if we need to use traffic lights along one carriageway.
"Due to the location of the road next to the river, flooding is an issue, although it is only closed when river levels are extremely high."
