Fond tributes to Stroud dad Joe Louis Hawkins

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to much-loved son, brother and father Joe Louis Hawkins as friends and family come to terms with his shock death.

Joe, 24, from Stroud, died on New Year's Day.

Facebook has been awash with loving tributes and fond memories of the former Archway School pupil.

Friend Kathy Day said: "I still can't believe ur gone it doesn't feel real, it's like I'm stuck in a horrible nytmare!

"U keep strong up there mind love u loads xxx."

Kylie Hynd added: "Sleep easy Joe Louis Hawkins. So many memories growing up with you and from school and seeing your cheeky smile.

"Always looking up to no good! I hope you're in a better place now lovely. Sweet dreams xxx."

Joe's sister Kylie Hawkins wrote: "Love u Joe missing u wish u cud see all these lovely msgs, u were loved and cared about by so many people I'm broken :'( R.I.P bro xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx."

Joe was a dad to a young daughter and had several brothers and sisters.

Police said they are treating his death as non-suspicious after being called by a member of the public who found Joe's body near Hillcrest Road in Stroud at about 8.50pm on Tuesday.

On his Facebook page, dozens of messages in his memory have been posted and a dedicated group, **R.I.P Joe Louis Hawkins**, has also been set up.

Friend Katy Parsons said: "R.I.P Joe you'll be missed by soo many, cant believe you're gone but one thing's for sure you will never be forgotten :). My thoughts are with all your family, in so much shock sleep tight Joe xxxxxxxx."

Christopher Howe said: "It's a shame this group even has to exist.

 "Sad times and big love to everyone who knew Joe. Such a young life and such potential, why do the best people always leave us so soon.

"My thoughts go out to all who knew him."

Kane Dowler added: "RIP old friend. Really can't believe this, and there's me moaning about going to work this morning. Pah.

 "Seriously shocking news. Best wishes to all the family.

 "Take it steady up there big man. I know you'll watching down on us."

 Stella Rose Watts said: "Was such a caring lad. Always said he'd be there if I ever needed a chat. Going to be greatly missed xx."

Gloucestershire Coroner's Office has been informed of his death by police and an inquest is expected to be opened soon.
