Hostage victim Elvis the Penguin has been returned to his owner at The Union pub in Gloucester.
But his beak was removed by his kidnappers before he was returned to the pub's toilets on Friday night with a note saying it had been cut off to stop him revealing the identity of his captors.
The bird was taken in a bid to stop the pub playing Christmas music.
Pub landlord Matt Foster said: "Whoever did this has a warped sense of humour.
"Elvis is now behind the bar for his own safety and the tunes are still playing."
