A baby has been treated for smoke inhalation injuries following a flat fire in Matson.
The incident happened at 7.35pm last night when Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a kitchen fire in a flat on Winsley Road.
One fire appliance from Gloucester South Fire Station and one fire appliance from Gloucester North Fire Station were mobilised with a total of 10 firefighters.
A second call was received from the occupier of the flat above the fire to say that the people in the two top floor flats were unable to get out due to smoke filling the stairwell. Due to the residents possibly being trapped a further appliance was mobilised from Stroud Fire Station with five firefighters.
At 7.50pm all people had been accounted for. Crews used one hosereel to extinguish the fire.
A baby girl was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by Great Western Ambulance Service.
Station Commander Brian Burns said: "Although this was an unfortunate incident, the value of having a properly maintained and sited smoke detector was evident at this incident. This alerted the occupiers of the flat to allow them enough time to exit the premise."
The appliances were detained a total 35 minutes.
