Talking Points: It was great to see Kim Sears turn the air blue

Andy Murray has battled to the final of the Australian Open with a victory over Tomas Berych but the post-match talk was all about Kim Sears.

Social media was awash with comment after Murray's fiancée was caught on camera launching an expletive-laden rant towards the Czech, world number seven.

For those who haven't seen it, it looked very much as though Sears said: "F*****g have that, you Czech flash f**k?"

The reaction ranged from disgust to delight and I have to say I'm in the latter camp. It showed that prim and proper Kim is human - passionate and proud of her husband-to-be.

I have to confess I am no different when I take off my journalists' hat and watch live sport as a fan. You get caught up in the moment and loss your tongue in incomprehensible expletives.

Of course there has to be respect.

Sears 'outburst' wasn't quite an outburst in truth. It wasn't shouted across the court it was said to herself. It wasn't personal. It wasn't really vitriolic. I wouldn't condone such words screamed directly at a sportsperson.

But who can say they haven't shouted such words at the TV in the heat of say a Manchester derby, a Six Nations clash between England and Wales or a world title boxing bout?

As Murray said following the 6-7 (6-8) 6-0 6-3 7-5 win: "In the heat of the moment, you can say stuff that you regret."
