Peter Ball & Co estate agents has opened a new branch in Gloucestershire.

The Cheltenham-based agency has taken over Cleeve Estate Agents' office in Bishop's Cleeve.

Owner Peter Ball said the move, which pushes its number of offices to four in the county, underlined the business' confidence in the Gloucestershire property market.

"We are very excited. It is going to link a lot more people from Cheltenham to Bishop's Cleeve," he said.

"We've got a very good name in the town centre and this will enhance it a lot more.

"There are a lot of people in Bishop's Cleeve who want to move to Cheltenham and vice-versa. This is going to help our other three offices too."

Natalie Kenny returns from maternity leave to take over as the new office's branch manager.

Cleeve Estate Agents' owner David Vale is to remain at the office as a consultant for Peter Ball & Co.

Staff have transferred from the agency's other offices, with the town centre taking on two new sales negotiators.

Peter added: "David brings stability to the new office, we are delighted to have him. He has a tremendous amount of experience, not just in the area but as an estate agent in general.

"I think hopefully our ability to open another office shows our confidence in the local market.

"Hopefully our name is already relatively well-known in Bishop's Cleeve. It's an area that we've always considered, there's a lot of expansion there."

Peter said the agency had experienced a "very busy" October and November after the London Olympics led to a quieter September.

"The Olympics was a funny time for us," he said.

"A lot of people went away on holiday."

January, February and March is often the best time to sell and all branches were looking forward to the new year, he added.

Peter Ball & Co opened an office in the town centre in 1993 and in Charlton Kings and Leckhampton in 1994.

Peter has been an estate agent since 1981. He previously worked in a sales role for a radio and TV department.

His experience as a first-time buyer developed his understanding of the property market and resulted in his desire to become an agent.
