Firefighters were called to Aylburton in the early hours of the morning after reports of a car crash.
The incident happened at 1.35am outside The Cross Inn, High Street, Aylburton, near Lydney.
One fire appliance attended from Lydney Fire Station with a crew of six firefighters and one from Cinderford Fire Station, also with a crew of six firefighters.
The person trapped was uninjured and released before the arrival of the service. The crew made the scene safe, at the request of police, by clearing fuel and debris from the highway.
They were detained at the incident for around 45 minutes.
