I am glad the snow that had been forecast on some reports to arrive this week has so far stayed away, although it has been bitterly cold conditions for all the team to work in.
After weeks and weeks of rain, though, the freezing temperatures have meant no mud, which is a welcome change.
It does hold up the first lot being ridden out, though, as we have to ensure everywhere is salted so that the whole team and all the horses can be ridden to the gallops safely.
Poor Danny Hiskett, our conditional jockey, sustained the first proper injury of his racing career when The Fox's Decree fell when challenging for the lead at the last fence at Leicester.
It was a horrible fall and Foxy was lucky to get up.
However, Danny sustained a broken collarbone and will be on the sidelines for a few weeks.
I also broke my collarbone once when I was a conditional jockey too and they say it is one of the most painful breaks.
I had to sleep in an armchair for quite a few nights as it was too painful getting up out of bed.
It is always frustrating as a jockey to be injured and have to watch horses run that you would have ridden.
As much as you want them to win for the team at home, you are also gutted to miss a winner if they do win and you worry that you may not get the ride back on them.
It happens time and time again and it is sadly just one of those things and you just have to get your head down as soon as you are back.
On Saturday I have my first-ever runner over the Grand National fences.
After missing the cut in the 2012 Grand National last April by one place, Any Currency finally gets the chance to run over the famous fences.
This time he is running in the Becher Chase over three miles and two furlongs, which makes it one mile and two furlongs shorter than the Grand National.
It will be a very nerve-racking experience watching him but he's in great form at home and Aidan Coleman, who will partner him, came in and worked him earlier this week.
We think he'll either love the fences or hate them – they are so different to the regulation  fences he's used to.
However, we are hoping that after the race we'll then hopefully know whether it is all systems go for the Grand National or whether we aim him for a different National over regulation fences instead.
I'm still not happy with Havingotascoobydo, so he will not be running in the Paul Stewart IronSpine Charity Challenge Gold Cup at next weekend's International meeting at Cheltenham.
He is too nice to rush and will only reappear when I am 100 per cent happy with him.
It is frustrating but there is nothing you can do other than be patient and he is lucky that he is owned by enthusiastic yet understanding owners, The League of Gentlemen.
Sky Calling, who won the charity race under Mark Caswell at Cheltenham in October, is a nightmare to train as she has so many niggly problems.Luckily she wins when she is right and has been a fun horse to have.
After Cheltenham we've had another rollercoaster ride with her but she seems well again and may run at Fakenham on Monday under Tom Bellamy.Tom hails from Stow-on-the Wold and rode his first winner under Rules for me but is now based in Somerset with David Pipe.
Sky Calling is only small so Tom will take a valuable 7lb off her back.
I have a few more horses entered there but am not sure who will accompany her yet, but with Fakenham being a long journey I always like to take two or more horses to share the travelling costs and try and make the journey worthwhile.
With Christmas around the corner I am trying to juggle a busy racing calendar with a busier than normal family social calendar too and aiming to keep everyone happy. My eldest son Freddie, four, is at Temple Guiting Primary School.
It is their school nativity play next week and I'll be in trouble if I don't manage to get there!
As much as I'm really looking forward to Christmas Day this year with Freddie and his two-year-old brother Harry old enough to understand what is going on much more, hopefully Champion Court will be running in the King George at Kempton the next day so I know that will also be on my mind!
Champ seems in good form so we will try and keep him that way between now and then and I'll give you a full update nearer the time.
