SECRETS of the River Severn were revealed to the public last week.
Finds dating back around 1,400 years were detailed in the Secrets of the Severn exhibition held at The George Café, Newnham.
Gloucestershire County Council senior archaeologist Toby Catchpole said the exhibition told the story of some of the discoveries his department made during a major survey of the river, funded by English Heritage.
"One of the earliest finds were fish traps at Beachley and Aust, which were carbon dated to the seventh and eighth centuries," he said.
It was part of Coleford Area Partnership's participation in national heritage open days.
One of the organisers, Janet Marrott, said numbers were still to come in but good numbers of visitors came to 27 venues across the Forest of Dean.
