Crowds brave rain to see Cheltenham Racecourse and Gloucester Docks fireworks

THOUSANDS of people braved a wet night to see Cheltenham's biggest fireworks event.
Last night's 20-minute display at the town's racecourse was watched by people from across Gloucestershire.
Crowd numbers appeared to be down on last year's record total of 15,000, with many no doubt being put off by the rain and bitingly cold wind that swept across the site for much of the night.
The annual event was organised by Cheltenham Round Table in a bid to raise tens of thousands of pounds for local charities.
It failed narrowly in a bid to break the world record for the number of cups of tea made in an hour by a team of 12. The Forest of Dean's main firework display at Speech House was cancelled because of the weather. But in Gloucester Docks thousands of people gathered to watch a spectacular display of pyrotechnics.
