IT was a sight to see for plane-lovers as that marvel of engineering the giant Airbus A380 lead a formation of Red Arrows through the skies at RAF Fairford yesterday.
The wings of the mighty superjumbo, which stretch 262ft across, are designed at Airbus' plant in Filton, near Bristol, and no doubt some of the 4,000 employees from the site were there to see this unusual addition to the famous flying display team in action.
This particular A380 is one of 12 ordered by British Airways due into service in 2016 and proudly wore the Union-flag inspired BA livery.
The Royal International Air Tattoo, just a short slog up the M5 at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, attracts thousands of Bristolians each July.
