More than 500 'brave' visitors have shown they are made of 'stern stuff' by visiting the Transmutation II exhibition and Gloucester Museum and Art Gallery.
Designed by special effect artist, Michaela Bayley, the exhibition includes life size figures, model heads, paintings, sound and lighting effects.
Gloucester is only the second venue to host the exhibition of 'stunning fantastical creatures' and feedback, say museum staff, has been very positive.
Council Leader, Paul James, explained: " I think it is right that museums and art should sometimes push the boundaries of what people would normally expect. That fits in completely with our cultural strategy.
" A number of people have been surprised by this exhibition which is very different from what we have offered visitors in the past. But, that said, the feedback has been very positive.
" We came up with our cultural strategy several years ago and one strand was to 'raise the stakes for creativity.' Exhibitions like Transmutation II are doing just that."
The exhibition is on display at the museum until September 21st.
