USUALLY this pair would be going for each other like cat and dog.

But when two-week-old Tigger was brought home by Clare Evans, it brought out the mothering instincts of her bulldog Harley.

The two-year-old pooch has been keeping a close eye on the tiny puss, even protecting him from the curiosity of Clare's other dogs, mastiff Yogi and German shepherd Kya.

Tigger had been found abandoned in a church and was brought into Arvonia Vets, where 37-year-old Clare works.

She said: "We had been hand-rearing him, taking him home to bottle-feed him.

"When I took Tigger back to mine, Harley started to take on the care of him. She washes him and lets him cuddle up, and now she's producing milk and feeding him. She can be quite a moody so-and-so and I never thought she would be this way with him."

Tigger, who is four weeks old, will soon find a home not too far from his surrogate mother.

Clare, of Unwin Road, The Reddings, said: "My mum and dad, Christine and Alan, who live next door will take him.

"We thought it would be too distressing to separate Harley and Tigger completely."
