GLOUCESTERSHIRE is to net in the region of £32million of Euro regeneration cash to target a kick-start of economic growth and create jobs, the Government has announced.

But the allocation for the county's Local Enterprise Partnership of 38.3million Euros for the period 2014-2020 is among the smallest settlements.

Business secretary Vince Cable insisted the cash has been shared out as fairly as possible across the country "as far as EU rules allow".

Gloucestershire is shown to have the fourth lowest allocation.

The biggest winner outside London is Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly which scooped 592.9million Euros.

The confirmation of how the 6.2billion Euros allocation to England of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF) would be shared out through a new decentralised EU Growth Programme was announced by the Secretary of State yesterday.

It came after the Chancellor announced that £2billion would be earmarked annually for a single pot to be used by Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs).
