A WOMAN had part of her ear bitten off and was stabbed in the breast during an alleged attack in her home.

Jiri Mizer has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident in Vauxhall Road, Barton, on Friday.

The 30-year-old appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Prosecutor Nadina Farley-Turner claimed Mizer, who is originally from the Czech Republic, had attacked the woman, his girlfriend, after a disagreement.

He is alleged to have bitten off part of her ear and used a knife to stab her in the breast.

Prosecutors also allege he cut her forehead, causing a 10cm long laceration, and her shoulder, inflicting a 15cm wound.

The woman was left with a wound to her hand that was so deep it "exposed the tendons".

She suffered a knife wound in the lower abdomen and a collapsed lung.

The woman was rushed to hospital after the incident, which happened at around 10am on Friday.

She is now said to be in a critical but stable condition. Mizer was initially treated in hospital after the incident but was discharged into police custody over the weekend.

Mizer was remanded in custody until July 5, when he will appear at Gloucester Crown Court.
