What's your favourite Gloucestershire day out? Puzzle Wood.

And your favourite place to eat out in the county?

Star Anise in Stroud.

What's the worst job you've ever had?

Male nurse in 1970 in Mid Wales, involved wheeling the deceased into the mortuary in the yard (sometimes past elderly patients sat awaiting their lunch in the conservatory. Ouch!).

Have you got any unusual habits?

Performing poetry while ironing live onstage, though I never set out to impress audiences deliberately.

Who is your hero and why?

Roy of the Rovers because he was the greatest ever player on paper. He played for 50 years and never grew any older or lost his lovely blond hair. Some icon.

What book are you reading at the moment or tell us your favourite?

I'm reading Adventures of a Waterboy, by Mike Scott. My favourite book is Now We Are Six by AA Milne. It drew me to all things Winnie The Pooh and inspired me to write poetry from the age of seven.

What was the last film you watched?

Midnight's Children

First single/record you ever bought?

Love Me Do – The Beatles.

Facebook or Twitter?

Avid Facebooker. I've got a thousand friends. I only know six of them. www.facebook. com/crispinthepoet. And Twitter? At 65, surrounded by wildlife and birds, I'm still coming to terms with tweeting.
