LEWIS Green threatened to kill a builder after he was told to stop riding motorbikes on his land, a prosecutor alleged yesterday.
Green, 25, appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates Court in relation to an incident in Gloucester on Monday, where police mistakenly wrestled a man to the ground at the Cornish Bakehouse in Westgate Street.
Green, of Kingsholm Road, was charged with making threats to kill, the court heard, after he was told to stop riding a motorbike around a building site at Walham.
Prosecutor Teresa Perry said the allegation was made by the owner of a patch of land currently being developed.
"He owns land which was once a farm and is now having new properties built there," she said.
"Persons have been using this land for riding motorbikes and the builders have complained about their ability to do their work because of this."
Ms Perry said the prosecution case was that Lewis Green was upset about the builder's complaints and said it was his turf.
She alleged Green said he would "come back with his family and a gun" and threatened to kill him.
It was further alleged that Green returned with a unloaded single barrelled shotgun and that he tried to load a cartridge into the gun. Ms Perry claimed landowner Sean Gorman grabbed an iron bar and that deterred Green from the scene.
She said: "A man was seen walking away by members of the public with a shotgun. A search has taken place and the gun has not been recovered."
Green, with short fair hair, a tattoo on his neck and wearing a dark T-shirt, was flanked by two female security guards in the dock throughout the hearing.
He has also been charged with racially abusing a female custody suite officer following his arrest for the suspected shotgun offence.
No pleas have been entered and the case has been sent to Gloucester Crown Court on July 5.
Green swore loudly as he was led away from the dock and has been remanded in custody.
