SEVEN families in Cooper's Edge have won the chance to grab some land and grow their own.
Cooper's Edge School in Typhoon Way ran a prize draw offering plots of its land to meet the demand for allotments in the area.
The winning families included the Morgans.
Andrew Morgan said: "There is actually a lot of demand at the moment, many families are looking for allotments.
"Me and my wife Jodie run a childcare business called Cooper's Edge Childcare and we were keen for an allotment space. We often bring the youngsters up here. It is a good way for them to gain some knowledge and patience as they expect products to grow over night. It is a good way to get dirty."
They are using their space to grow vegetables including green beans, potatoes, onions, chilli and a selection of fruits.
