Two cows caused traffic mayhem today when they escaped from a field and stood defiantly on a major Gloucester road.
Police had to shut the A40 northern bypass between the Longford roundabout and the Over roundabout at 1.10pm until the animals are removed from the scene half an hour later.
A police spokesman said: "Initially we didn't know who the owner was so traffic ground to a halt. The owner eventually arrived and took them back to a field on the way to Maisemore."
