People who are handy with a needle and thread are being urged 'not to miss the boat.'

Although the weather might be warming up the City Museum and Art Gallery is running a special course for anyone wanting to design their very own 'tailor-made' hand stitched River Severn Quilt.

Booking is essential for this one-day course of intensive tuition which includes materials, lunch, teas, coffee – and cakes.

It takes place on Saturday June 29th from 10am – 4pm at the museum in Brunswick Road at a cost of £75 per person.

Council Leader, Paul James, said: " This is the first of a number of themed craft events that will be taking place at the museum. It is important that we support and encourage these crafts. The fact that we can use them to celebrate our local heritage is a bonus.

" Places on this course are limited and people will most certainly need to book. It will be a fun and enjoyable day and there will be a personalised and very useable item at the end of it. Given that the theme is the River Severn I would urge people not to miss the boat."

Tickets are available online at www.gloucestermuseums.co.uk or by telephoning the Guildhall box office on (01452) 503050
