GULLS who tear into trash are harming Gloucester's civic pride, says one resident.
Hussain Vorajee snapped this picture of a gull exploiting bin bags for a morning snack in Southgate Street.
"The gulls rip everything apart," he said. "The street was a mess. They are supposed to be making Southgate Street and the Docks link up but this is a shambles."
Commercial waste is put out for collection by various contractors, and Gloucester City Council.
A council spokesman said it is looking at introducing hessian bags which cannot rip, and central collection points for the bags.
