CAMPAIGNERS who petitioned for the bones of King Richard III to rest in Gloucester are calling on the city council to take full advantage of next year's historic tour.
A replica of the king's head is touring the country next year and stopping off in Gloucester in March.
City councillor Sebastian Field (LD, Kingsholm and Wotton) wanted the king's bones buried in the city due to his historic ties as the Duke of Gloucester.
"We have our own artefacts and I believe we should take this opportunity to raise awareness of their royal heritage among residents in Gloucestershire," he said.
"With careful planning we can make the most of this brief visit."
