TRIED and tested family favourites mixed with new ideas made for a swinging 30th anniversaryNailsworth Festival.
Traditional amusements for the children like Punch & Judy and clowns kicked off the free town centre fun on Festival Saturday said Tim Hughes, spokesman for the volunteer organisers.
Then, later in the programme, an experimental fusion of poetry and blues jazz proved a hit at Egypt Mill.
"Poet Adam Horovitz and musician Patsy Gamble gave us Rhythm and Muse there," said Tim.
"It was different. A little bit experimental. But it worked very well."
Horsley schoolgirl turned BBC Countryfile presenter Ellie Harrison described her love of the Nailsworth area and her career to a sell-out audience at the Town Hall.
Tim said further big successes were the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School's presentation of the classic smugglers' tale Moonfleet and the Nailsworth Youth Showcase talent show, organised by Britain's Got Talent hopeful Kieran Powell.
A new festival venue at Forest Green Rovers FC saw dancing all night to ex-Manfred Mann frontman Mike d'Abo.
