THE first swimmers of the season have braved the unheated waters of the outdoor pool at Stratford Park Leisure Centre.
Temperatures rose from their initial 12C or 13C to settle at 14C to 15C in the weekend sunshine, said deputy centre manager Kieran Sinton.
The pool will remain open for summer from 11am to 7pm every day, with the toddler pool open until 5pm.
"It's refreshing on a hot day," said Kieran.
"We also get serious swimmers in wet suits training for events."
The open-air pool shuts on September 1.
For the more faint hearted, the indoor pool is heating to a balmy 29C to 30C.
