ONE punch in an unprovoked attack outside a Cheltenham nightclub left a man brain damaged and "within a whisker" of losing his life.
Thomas Barry, of Wellington Terrace, Moreton-in-Marsh, has been jailed for two years after attacking Simon Warren outside Moo Moo's nightclub on November 13.
Gloucester Crown Court heard Mr Warren suffered a skull fracture and bruising of the brain from the attack.
He spent a month in intensive care in the high dependency unit at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol and had to learn to walk again.
