THE first swimmers of the season have braved the unheated waters of the outdoor pool at Stratford Park Leisure Centre in Stroud.
Temperatures rose from their initial 12C or 13C to settle at 14C to 15C after the weekend sun, deputy manager at the centre Kieran Sinton said.
The pool will now remain open for the summer from 11am-7pm daily with the toddler pool open until 5pm.
"It is very refreshing on a hot day," Mr Sinton said. "We also get serious swimmers in wet suits training for events," he said.
The pool shuts on September 1.
For the faint hearted, however, the indoor pool remains at 29C.
