PEOPLE in The Docks could have been forgiven for thinking there was a major disaster there on Tuesday night.
But fear not – the county's firefighters were out in force on a large-scale exercise testing their ability to fight fires during a water shortage.
They recreated a scenario in which the city's mains water supply has failed. It involved 14 fire engines, high-volume pumps and 70 firefighters.
Crews pumped water to supply more than two miles of hose which then delivered the water back.
Chief fire officer Jon Hall said: "It is an excellent opportunity to develop our response to a large-scale emergency."
