FORMER Coronation Street actress Helen Wingrave has been appointed as the new head of performing arts at the South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.
Yorkshire lass Helen is to lead the new department at the college's Stroud campus.
She spent her teenage years at the National Youth Theatre before she studied acting at the Academy Drama School in London.
She then worked for 11 years in theatre and TV as a professional actress and director before retraining as a lecturer.
Helen has appeared in numerous stage and TV shows including Coronation Street, where she played Nurse Chambers, and was responsible for overseeing the character of Jack Duckworth, played by Bill Tarmley, through his triple heart bypass operation.
