ONE of Gloucestershire's oldest trees has been blown over by strong winds.
An ancient oak tree, believed to be around 350 years old in Newlands Park, Southam, was blown over on Thursday as winds reached up to 60mph.
David Evans, from Cheltenham Rugby Club, which owns the land, said it was a great shame the tree had been damaged, and that it would be moved soon.
He said: "It would have been planted in the time of Oliver Cromwell, about 1650."
In 2011 the rugby club planted 420 young saplings at the 19-acre site after receiving them from the Woodland Trust.
