SPORTING smocks and jaunty berets, youngsters faithfully followed in the footsteps of a great French Impressionist.
Year 3 and 4 pupils at St Edward's Junior School Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, transported their easels outdoors to work 'en plain air' - with visiting artist Monet, embodied by Paul Priestley.
Inspired by nature, the painting pupils enjoyed a colourful day.
It began with a presentation on Monet's life and was followed by a demonstration of his techniques before children picked up their own paintbrushes.
St Edward's head of art Julie Habgood said: "We encourage our pupils to be creative and appreciative of art and during each term we focus on different artists and their techniques.
"Being able to dedicate a whole day to art is wonderful and the children have got so much out of this experience.
"They have looked at landscapes, the use of light and shade and had all of this put into an historical context."
