NATURALISTS and young people alike are needed to record the county's hidden wildlife.

Natural England wants to enlist an army of volunteers for its BioBlitz event from 10am on July 5 through until 2pm on July 6.

The 28-hour event is at Cotswold Commons and Beechwoods National Nature Reserve.

The event will take place in and around Cranham Scout Centre and will allow both day-time and night-time species to be discovered.

Co-ordinator Britta Koehler said: "We'll be searching Cranham's grasslands for emerging reptiles such as adders, and looking for butterflies such as the chalkhill blue and green hairstreak which often make their homes here."

More naturalists are needed to cover an area of 123 hectares as well as general volunteers. Contact Britta Koehler on 07964 246 113 to get involved.
