FRESH warnings about rogue traders have been issued by police after a suspicious incident in Cam on Thursday.

At around 1pm, a Cam Green resident was visited by a man claiming to be from the Highways Department, offering to gravel her drive for £60.

The man then claimed he didn't have enough gravel to finish the job and demanded more cash. He said it would cost £300 more for materials and became abusive and intimidating when the resident refused to pay-up.

After the man left the premises the police were called as it was feared he would return.

Officers investigating the case are appealing for anyone else in the area who thinks they may have been contacted by this man in the last few weeks to call them on 101, quoting incident 247 of October 25.

Alternatively information can also be given anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org. In some cases Crimestoppers offer rewards of up to £1000 where information leads to a conviction.

A 24-year-old man from Banbury has been arrested on suspicion of fraud by misrepresentation in connection with the incident and bailed to attend Gloucester police station on November 15, pending further inquiries.
