Cotswolds Finest Cakes owner Aggy Dadan of Cirencester has won a gold award at the prestigious Cake International London 2013 show.
In her first ever competition Aggy was awarded the top award for her Harry Potter inspired Leaky Cauldron Pub in the Decorative Exhibit Category.
Around 500 entries from around the world competed in the sugarcraft, cake decorating and baking show which was open to the public last week at London's ExCel centre.
On winning the Cake International award Aggy says; "I was hoping for a merit and would have been happy, so when I found out it was gold I couldn't believe it.
"For me it was a top achievement as it was my first competition and the standard of cakes was amazing. People were bringing cakes all the way from places like Hong Kong."
The Leaky Cauldron Pub creation was a labour of love with Aggy estimating it added up to 200 hours of work. Everything that could be seen on the cake had to be edible and all the furniture was painstakingly handcrafted.
Aggy says; "You are judged by your creativity and I wanted to do something original. There are a lot of pretty, girly cakes and I wanted it to be a bit dark and different. People said it looked a bit like a haunted house and it really appealed to guys."
It has only been 14 months since Aggy started baking with her business Cotswolds Finest Cakes, but this has already given her a taste for competing.
She says; "I loved it and I'm already coming up with ideas for the next one. Last year I went to these awards and I never thought I would be good enough because of the talent and work that goes into these cakes. But after the judge said that adding figures to my entry could have made it 'Best in Show', it's made me want to aim for this in the November competition in Birmingham."
