Google have just unveiled 'Google Map Maker' for UK users after long speculation. Almost every country has access to this online software and now the UK have as well.
Google Map Maker allows any user to edit Google Maps for example you can add missing roads, buildings, bus stops, places of interest etc...
It also edits Google's GPS software as well, so changes made will appear on GPS devices which are run by Google across the world.
So far changes made within Gloucestershire include: Haymes (A hamlet near Southam) is now labelled on Google Maps; Buildings are now viewable on non-sateliteimgery if they have been outlined usingGoogle Map Maker; New roads appearing on new developments; new business's being labelled to buildings and roads can be given a gradient to stop unsuitable vehicles from driving on that road.
If you wish to add your business or edit Google Maps, you must have a googleacount. Once you are logged in a simple control panel guides you through how to add specific features to the map.
