These are the findings of some researchers from Australia.
They discovered that men who grew beards were considered more threatening.
But, while the macho look was appreciated by other men, lads looking to hook a stunner were urged to buy a razor instead.
Despite stunners like Ryan Gosling and Jake Gyllenhaal sporting the look, the same researchers, from the University of South Wales, discovered that women were not impressed by beards.
Women did not mind, they said, a little bit of stubble.
And both genders agreed that the harrier a man was, the more masculine they were.
But full-grown beards failed to impress.
