SHOPPERS in Gloucester have been digging deep into their pockets in aid of the city's Foodbank.
Volunteers from the Great Western Road-based charity were in the gate streets yesterday morning collecting donations. Equipped with a trolley and banners, they asked shoppers to give some money in order to help with their running costs.
Town crier Alan Myatt led the processions and made sure people knew why they were collecting. He said: "It is such a great cause and the public gave very generously.
"They give food to those people who are genuinely in need."
