ALL creatures great and small went to school with their owners to kick start a new topic for the summer term.

Kingsholm Primary School children were invited to bring in their pets for the day as this term they will be studying a topic called Animal Magic.

Dogs, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, and fish were shown off, stroked and admired by pupils at the Gloucester school.

Year 1 teachers Joanne Scrivener and Amy Davis brought in their dogs, collie Tess and retriever Louis too.

"The children loved it," said Mrs Scrivener.

"The children had the dogs retrieving balls from out on the field and they also had the chance to tell the others about their pets.

"We like to start and end a topic with a special event and this was the first time we have done this, and it was a great success."
